Purpose of the course:

This course delivers 3 hours Accredited *CPD classroom instruction and is aimed at operatives, supervisors and managers who, in the course of their work, may need to understand what a confined space is and how confined space conditions can develop.

On completion of the course delegates should be able to identify typical confined spaces, understand the risks that may be present or introduced and ensure that appropriate control measures are in place prior to anyone entering a confined space. It also gives them an understanding of the requirement to employ competent operatives to carry out the work.

What will be covered on the course:

  • Overview of the Confined Spaces and Associated Regulations
  • “What is a confined space?”
  • Hazards associated with confined spaces
  • Defining confined spaces
  • Problem atmospheres (gases and gas monitoring)
  • Safe Systems of Work
  • Work team roles and duties
  • First Aid and medical considerations

Course summary

  • Course duration: Half day (am 09:00-12:00 or pm 13:00-16:00
  • Maximum instructor/delegate ratio: 1:10
  • Delivery: Classroom based theory
  • Assessment: None
  • Certification: CPD Accredited Certificate of Training (valid for 3 years)

Additional Information:

  • Delegates must have a good command of the English language
  • Delegates do not require any PPE/FPE for the course
