Description

Purpose of the course:

This course delivers 2 hours Accredited *CPD classroom instruction and is aimed at delegates who have been selected to undertake the role of a Hazardous Area Manager (HAM) or Explosive Safety Representative (ESR) in accordance with MoD JSP 375.

On completion of the course delegates should be able to identify their individual prospective role, understand the basic principles of compliance with MoD JSP 375, identify key duty holders and the required level of competencies of those involved.

  • HAM – A person having control of works and other defined responsibilities within a petroleum hazardous area
  • ESR – A person responsible for explosives safety at an establishment

  • Overview of statutory regulations
  • Petroleum products and installations
  • Roles and duties of key individuals
  • Introduction to Safe Systems of Work
  • Introduction to MoD Chapter 3
  • Introduction to MoD Chapter 5
  • Hazardous areas
